Tour Itinerary

Your private driver will meet you at the airport for a comfortable transfer to your hotel in the heart of Bucharest. The rest of the day is yours to relax, refresh, or enjoy a leisurely introduction to Romania’s vibrant capital.

Overnight in Bucharest, Hotel Marmorosch Bucharest*****

Leave Bucharest and set out on one of Romania’s most spectacular drives, the Transfăgărășan Highway, often called “the road to the sky.” Built across the Făgăraș Mountains, this engineering marvel winds through alpine forests, glacial valleys, and dramatic switchbacks that reveal ever-expanding panoramas with each turn.

At the summit, reach the breathtaking Bâlea Lake, a glacial lake perched at 2,034 meters (6,673 ft).

Descend toward Sibiu, a former European Capital of Culture and one of Transylvania’s architectural gems. The road winds down through pine forests and small villages, eventually opening to the wide plains around the city.

Please note: from September until June, the Transfăgărășan is closed due to snow, and travel between Bucharest and Sibiu follows an alternative route through the scenic Olt Valley, offering beautiful mountain landscapes, forested slopes, and picturesque villages along the way.

Overnight in Sibiu, Hotel Art**** (located in the Old Town)

Enjoy a full day cultural experiences from Sibiu to the legendary Hunyad (Corvin) Castle, one of the most impressive medieval fortresses in Transylvania. The scenic journey unfolds through rolling hills, historic towns, and traditional villages that reveal the timeless beauty of rural Romania. In Hunedoara, step into a world of chivalry and legend as you explore the castle’s soaring towers, echoing halls, and picturesque courtyards, a true architectural masterpiece steeped in centuries of history.

Later, experience the warmth of Romanian hospitality during a home-cooked meal in the countryside. Savor dishes prepared with fresh, local ingredients, passed down through generations, and enjoy heartfelt conversations with your hosts. This memorable encounter offers a genuine taste of Transylvanian life, simple, generous, and full of flavor.

Overnight in Sibiu, Hotel Art**** (located in the Old Town)

Leave the charm of Sibiu behind as you travel through the gentle hills of Transylvania, where vineyards and traditional villages dot the landscape. Along the way, stop for a wine tasting at a local estate surrounded by rolling countryside. Enjoy the relaxed rhythm of rural life as you sample refined Romanian varietals such as Fetească Neagră and Fetească Regală, and hear the stories that give each vintage its unique character.

Continue to Sighișoara, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval towns. Arrive with time to explore its cobbled streets, admire the pastel-colored houses and the elegant Clock Tower, or simply unwind at a café in the main square, soaking up the timeless charm of Transylvania.

Overnight in Sighisoara, Hotel Fronius Residence*****

Spend the day discovering the living traditions of Transylvania’s Saxon villages, where time seems to linger and every craft tells a story. Journey through Saschiz, Meșendorf, and Viscri, villages celebrated for their colorful houses, fortified churches, and authentic way of life. Along the way, meet the people who keep these traditions alive and experience the warmth of rural hospitality that makes this region so special.

In Viscri, step into the rhythm of village life and connect with local artisans who continue to practice traditional crafts, each preserving a fragment of the area’s unique heritage. Take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the winding lanes and gentle hills, where the clip-clop of hooves and the scent of wildflowers evoke a simpler, slower time.

If you love nature, follow marked walking trails through meadows and forests, where birdsong and sweeping views reveal the unspoiled charm of the countryside. As evening falls, enjoy a home-cooked dinner featuring dishes prepared with local ingredients, shared stories, and the genuine warmth that defines Transylvanian hospitality.

Overnight in Viscri, Viscri 125****

Journey into the Szekely Land, a region where legend, history, and tradition come together to create one of Romania’s most distinctive cultural landscapes. Once a strategic borderland during the Austro-Hungarian era, this area was guarded by the Szeklers, a proud community whose presence still defines the region today. Their villages preserve a rich tapestry of folklore, artistry, and centuries-old customs that remain deeply woven into everyday life. The language, the songs, and the craftsmanship all tell stories of resilience and identity found nowhere else in Romania.

Amid these rolling hills, experience the comforting aroma of freshly baked bread, a tradition cherished across generations. Feel the simple joy of kneading the dough, shaping loaves by hand, and watching them rise in a warm oven — a gesture of hospitality that reflects the soul of the countryside. Those who wish can join a bread-making workshop, learning the secrets of this age-old craft and taking part in a ritual that connects people through taste and memory.

The day concludes with an overnight stay at Daniel Castle, a historic manor surrounded by peaceful gardens, where the timeless charm of Transylvania lingers in every corner.

Overnight in Talisoara, Daniel Castle****

Leave the peaceful countryside of Tălișoara behind as you journey toward the southern slopes of the Carpathian Mountains. The drive reveals a landscape of forested hills and tranquil valleys before reaching Bran, home to one of Romania’s most iconic landmarks, Bran Castle. Rising dramatically above the village, this 14th-century fortress blends history and legend in equal measure. Step through its narrow stairways and medieval halls to uncover centuries of stories and the enduring mystery that surrounds it.

Continue on to Brașov, a city framed by mountains and celebrated for its Saxon heritage and timeless charm. Stroll through the Old Town, where cobbled streets, colorful façades, and the towering Black Church create a picture-perfect scene. Enjoy time at leisure to soak in the lively atmosphere of the main square or relax at one of the inviting cafés.

Overnight in Brașov, Schuster Boarding House****

Begin the day with a scenic drive to Zărnești, where the Libearty Bear Sanctuary offers a deeply moving and memorable experience. Nestled in the forests at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, the sanctuary provides a safe haven for more than a hundred bears rescued from captivity. As you walk through the tranquil surroundings, watch these magnificent animals roam freely, play, and rest in their natural environment while learning the inspiring rescue stories that brought them here.

Later, discover the beauty of Romanian folk art during a wood-painting workshop that celebrates centuries-old traditions. Guided by a skilled local artisan, learn how to decorate your own wooden piece with motifs inspired by Saxon and Szekler heritage. Each brushstroke connects you to the region’s artistic soul and offers a glimpse into Romania’s living culture. By the end of the session, you’ll take home a hand-painted keepsake — a vibrant reminder of your creative journey in Transylvania.

Overnight in Brașov, Schuster Boarding House****

Depart Brașov and journey south through the scenic mountain landscapes of the Prahova Valley to Sinaia, where you’ll visit the magnificent Peleș Castle, a masterpiece of Neo-Renaissance architecture and one of Europe’s most beautiful royal residences. Its richly decorated interiors, intricate woodwork, and mountain setting create an atmosphere of timeless elegance and grandeur.

Continue to a peaceful village nestled in the foothills, where local artisans keep alive the traditional weaving and embroidery of the Romanian blouse. Discover the meanings behind the patterns and symbols carefully stitched by hand, each telling a story of heritage and identity passed down through generations.

In the afternoon, travel toward the Dealu Mare wine region, celebrated for its sun-drenched vineyards and elegant varietals. Settle in at a countryside vineyard in Mocești, where a wine tasting awaits.
